But Im just not in it for the money. Those songs, and those tracks. AD: When Craig writes a song, he will actually make a demo tape with a drum track on it, which is great because it gives me ideas. I was reluctant to try to write some more, but now Ive been doing that, and its been a real experience. And Id sleep, and Id wake up, go do the gig, and the same thing would happen all over again. And I think that actually might have provoked Perry to go and do a solo record. Thats about all. At the end of the last video from my solo album, for Foolish Heart, theres an extra tag-on section that I shot for the video, to just tell everybody that that particular phase of my career was now over and now Im back to Journey. It was really intense. Your activity looks suspicious to us. I only know that theyve been through three guys, and Ive never heard any of em, and theres no need to. And Journey was on tour, so I said Fine, Ill do that. And so I went down and sat with this mastering engineer. So when I hit the scene in Liverpool, I startled a lot of the drummers that were hanging around, because they hadn't heard of me and all of a sudden I was getting gigs and playing over the place. Then we'd go out on the road again and when I'd get back, I would have to start over again because I wouldn't have the chance to practice on the road. Then I did the A Hard Road album with him, and that helped me understand the songs a little better. Then shortly thereafter, I called Jon and Neal together. You can be working 10, 12, 14 hours every day. But I didnt realize what we had done together until I stopped. Career. I always had the idea in mind that you never go to a big town unless you go with a band. I wasnt really into jamming too much. I love playing.
